The days may be shorter, but I'm still packing them full of live music! #gratitude

Upon returning from enjoying the day off with a lovely walk in the woods with my boys, I find myself reflecting on the freedoms afforded to me by the bravery of all those who have served our country, past & present.  I am honored to be the recipient of a Certificate of Appreciation by Cape Cod Veterans Inc. for the time I have donated and the money I have raised to benefit our wounded heroes, the military, veterans, and their families.  As we approach Thanksgiving, I find myself overcome with gratitude thinking about how full my life is thanks to the rich music community here on Cape Cod.  This past month has led to many changes in my life.  I am embracing my return to teaching as my day job, and feeling energized by this decision.  I have been able to be much more present with my family, and the change has afforded me many extra hours each week to devote to my music.

I am so excited about my new band project - The Trailers, comprised of Frank Consiglio on guitar, mandolin & vocals, myself on guitar, uke & vocals, and Bill Kwaak on bass & vocals.  As a trio we play an eclectic mix of original tunes and covers done our own way. Come check us out at Harvest Gallery Wine Bar in Dennis on Sunday, November 16, 2014 from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.  Grab your friends, come early to enjoy a light dinner, add a splash of your favorite libation, and you've got the recipe for a great night of local live music.

I am honored to be the December feature for Feed Your Love Open Mic at Wellfleet Preservation hall on Wednesday, December 17, 2014.  The Feed Your Love Open Mic is hosted by Bert Jackson and Don Boivin, and their tag line is "Everyone has a voice, every voice is unique, every voice deserves to be heard." Feed Your Love is held on the third Wednesday of every month at Wellfleet Preservation Hall. Open Mic slots are two songs or ten minutes, whichever comes first. Wellfleet Preservation Hall will be serving hot and cold drinks, beer and wine, and other treats.  Sign up is at 6:30 p.m. and the music starts at 7:00.

I am also thrilled to announce my new venture in cooperation with The Harwich Junior Theatre. I will be hosting an Open Mic Coffee House on the first Friday of each month at the HJT Arts Center located at 265 Sisson Road in Harwich.   This event was the brainchild of Nadia Schuessler, and I am taking over for her because she has returned to school to pursue her Masters Degree.  Admission is $5 and proceeds benefit the HJT scholarship fund.  New this year, we will be featuring a Cape-based professional artist each month.  The featured artist will appear from 8:30 - 9:00 and will perform for the audience as well as answer questions about their process and career in an effort to inspire the youth in the audience to recognize that the arts can be a viable profession.  The event is open to the public, but we are hoping to attract junior high and high school students from all across the Cape.  We are hoping to attract more than just musicians as well.  For instance, students could present a short play, spoken word, rap, dance, music, or other talent.  Performers will be given a 5 - 10 minute slot, based on how many people show up to sign up for the open mic slots.  December feature to be announced soon!

And of course, you can still find me hosting my regular open mics:

Singer Songwriter/Open mic at O'Shea's Olde Inne in West Dennis on Monday, November 24, 2014, Monday, December 15, 2014, and Monday, January  5, 2015.  This will kick off with the "originals-encouraged-acoustic-unplugged-around-the-trunk-singer-songwriter-circle" from 7:30 - 8:30 p.m., then we'll amplify from 8:30 - 11:30 p.m.  The food is great, the pints flowing, and the atmosphere is that of an authentic pub in Ireland.

Wednesdays find me hosting open mic at Harvest Gallery Wine Bar in Dennis.  Be sure to get there early - the list goes out at 7:00 p.m. and is often full by 7:10.  Depending on how many musicians sign up, 2 or 3 song sets run from 7:30 - 10:30.  PA, cords, mics & stands provided.
